In subsequent posts, I will not only compare the text itself, but also the style and how the characters refer to each other and how they express their emotions.

Pay attention to the subtle differences, which are important for maintaining the character’s personality.

This is not to say that AI has always had a perfect choice of words, but as far as I can see, it is always better than what Netflix shows. However, in isolated instances, a minor correction by a human would come in handy.

Two things should also be noted. AI knows only what’s in text and the context from previous episodes. In theory, this should always give an advantage to the human translator, who can also see and hear the emotions of the characters. As you can see – this is not the case.

The other thing is that, for some reason, AI captures a character’s style of expression far better. Whether it’s Ranma or Akane or other characters. It’s all about the specific quirks of the characters and their characters or ways of expressing themselves.

So it’s no longer about the dumb localization, pushing the Western name order, the omission of honorifics (which all negatively affects not only the enjoyment and viewing experience, but also the proper portrayal of dependencies and relationships between characters).

Some things done in the Netflix translation are just completely incomprehensible for me.
